School Leaders Induction Assembly

The School leaders were inducted at our special assembly this week where they recieved their badges from our state member, Kate Jones MP, recited their oath of office and rang the leadership bell to officially commence their leadership term. It was wonderful to see so many family members at the ceremony and to have them involved by pinning the badges onto the leaders' shirts reinforced the importance of community at Oakleigh.
The Student Representative Council also met this week and kicked off their 1st action which was a fund raising free dress day to collect money for the bushfire and flood victims around Australia. A great initiative and over $500 was raised in the process. Well done Oakleigh.

Email address mis-printed for allergy support group

Please be aware that the email address to contact the allergy support group  was mis-printed in this week's version of the Oakleigh Log. This has now been ammended in the online version and people wishing to be a part of this great initiative should read the information below and click on the link to join.
As mentioned by Mr Churchward in last week's newsletter there are a growing number of children at Oakleigh who have various allergies.  Some of these allergies can result in anaphylaxis which can become a life threatening situation.  Recently I and another parent were invited to speak with the teachers of Oakleigh about our children’s allergies and it was suggested that we bring the parents of students at Oakleigh who have allergies together.  The group would be a fairly informal one but one which could offer support to parents of children with allergies at the school as well as being a source of information and a line of communication for staff and other parents in the Oakleigh School community.  If you would like any information about allergies, anaphylaxis or if you would like to be a part of this group please contact me by email at  This email address is being protected from spambots.
