At Oakleigh State School
students try out for a place in the Strings Program at the end of year 2.
Instruments taught are violin, viola, cello and double bass.
If accepted
students will have the opportunity to play in string orchestras, attend music
camps, play in competitions and perform at school.
Learning an instrument
is a very rewarding experience which can last a lifetime.
The Strings
Teacher is at Oakleigh one day per week.
There are string orchestras
which give students ensemble playing experience.
Junior Strings is the
training ensemble for Senior Strings and rehearses at Second Break for year 4
students.
Senior Strings Orchestra rehearses before school for
students in years 5 and 6. Some year 6s are extended by playing in
Chamber Strings.
